National Taipei University of Business Launches New Five-Year Smart Cybersecurity Program
Partners with Industry and Vocational High Schools to Cultivate Top Talent
On February 3, National Taipei University of Business held a formal launch ceremony for the new five-year “Smart Cybersecurity” program within the Department of Information Management at the International Marketing Lecture Hall. The event, themed “Industry–Academia Collaboration: Cultivating Future Talent Together,” was presided over by NTUB President Li-Chung Jen. Representatives from leading companies—including Leadcom Technology, Systex Corporation, Cisco Taiwan, Deloitte Taiwan, and Neweb Technologies—as well as faculty members from public vocational high schools across northern Taiwan, attended the ceremony. The program officially marks a new milestone in cybersecurity talent development through a “3+2” industry–academia pathway.
During his speech, President Li highlighted NTUB’s strong performance in recent years. In the 2025 “Best Universities in Taiwan” ranking by Global Views Monthly, NTUB ranked seventh nationwide in business and management, standing out as the only technological university on par with top research universities. Amid declining birth rates, the university has expanded both budget and faculty resources through industry collaborations and Ministry of Education initiatives. President Li emphasized that the new five-year program allows students to focus on skills training without the pressure of standardized entrance exams. The university has also established robust international pathways, enabling students to pursue further studies at California State University, earn dual degrees, or even continue to doctoral programs, thereby cultivating top-tier talent with a global perspective.
The program director and Chair of the Department of Information Management, Ye Ming-Gui, explained that the program features a “3+2+2” seven-year integrated training model, reflecting the technical-vocational education system’s focus on workforce readiness. Chair Ye highlighted that cybersecurity encompasses a wide range of skills, and students—whether strong in programming or management and communication—can find their niche within the program. Industry instructors and real-world case studies will be heavily incorporated, alongside Ministry of Labor employment courses, allowing students to accumulate practical experience and professional certifications during the two-year junior college and two-year technical program stages. He hopes that long-term guidance will help students build confidence and graduate not only with certificates but also with the practical skills required to seamlessly enter the workforce.
During the ceremony, President Li also presented letters of appreciation to partner companies for their strong support in practice-oriented teaching and shared industry–academia development goals, laying a solid foundation for the new Smart Cybersecurity program. In addition to the Information Management department’s new program, NTUB has launched several other specialized programs aligned with industry trends, including the “Smart Technology Design Program” in the Department of Creative Technology and Product Design, the “Cultural and Creative IP Brand Design Program” in the Department of Business Design Management, and the “International Integrated Marketing Communications Program” in the Department of Applied Foreign Languages. Through this diverse array of specialized programs, NTUB aims to provide technical-vocational students with deep expertise in their respective fields and cultivate future leaders to drive Taiwan’s smart industry development.
